How Do I know what Budget to set for my gig?

With our Post-a-Gig feature we allow you to set your own budget for your event. Artists see what they will make and when they submit, they are indicating that they are available and interested. However, with anything in life you get what you pay for - so follow these simple guidelines to set the appropriate budget for your gig!

  • Baseline Rate: For typical private events, musicians make a minimum of $100 per person, per hour.
  • Artist Type: The more people performing the more money they are going to expect to play your gig. Bands, Trios, and Ensembles typical going rate is around $300-$500 for a gig.
  • Type of Event: Dependent on the occasion your budget might need to be bumped up. Weddings, corporate gigs, fundraisers, and large parties typically pay out more as more preparation and set up is involved.
  • Extras: If you expect your musician to learn some of your favorite tunes - consider this when setting your budget. This takes a lot of time and practice!
  • Distance: If you live far from the city and posted a gig consider things such as travel time and gas and incorporate this into your budget.

With all that being said, these are just guidelines! If you need any help setting a budget for your event please reach out to us at help@gigtown.com and we will assist you.
